I thought the 18mm belt might have better traction than the 30 yr old stock belt. But, no it's slightly bigger than the old one and slips easier. I only found one reference to tightening the belt. Looking under neath adjustment was not readily visible. Any suggestions are welcome

Simple adjustment, from the rear loosen the nut on the white plastic clamp at the left end of the motor. Rotate the motor body by hand, trial and error until it tightens the belt. Tighten the nut. Good luck.
