Latest project! Have set about dismantling the C5 I bought a year ago to restore everything and get it going. Have taken the pedal cranks off but the protusion of the bottom bracket spindle fouls the bodyshell when trying to raise it from the chassis. Is the removal of the spindle necessary, or is there another way? Thanks in anticipation.

Funny that this subject has cropped up, as I had to ask Chas the same question yesterday. The answer is yes you need to remove the spindle.

Remove the retaining cup from the right hand side, caution, the cup has a left hand thread.
