No probs mate, just send me your address in a PM and I'll post one out to you.

What you will need to do is purchase an Arduino Nano V3 which are usually about £11 on ebay, download the software (which I'll post a link to shortly) and using the Arduino development environment (free from arduino.cc), compile and upload it to you're Arduino.

Follow the instructions here for uploading the software to the Nano and installing the module in the C5 POD.

Thanks!

It's been tested in one 12V C5 and works fine, however for different C5s of different configurations it should also be fine but as I cant verify every possible configuration myself...

Like I say in the documentation page, if you follow the instructions correctly, install the arduino/adapter correctly and have the drive wheel off the ground when you first install it/test it you will be fine.

Part of the joys of being a BETA tester

Just to ensure those testing this board understand what I will be providing. I will be posting out the custom PCB with resistors, header pins soldered ready to go.

I will not be including the Arduino, these must be purchased separately and added to the PCB when you receive it. The Arduino Nano can be purchased for about £11 from Ebay.

Thanks!

Let us know if you need any info. on how to upload the program to Arduino.

Follow the steps here to get started:

http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/HomePage

Then try to run the "Blink" sample program that comes with Arduino, this switches the Arduino LED on/off in a loop and allows you to actually see that everything is okay with your Arduino.

When you receive the board follow the instructions here and slot the Arduino into the top of the board.

It can be a tight fit when trying to put the POD lid back on and on my Nano I have cut off the 6 ICSP pins as they're not needed for this project.

Thanks!

Cool, glad it got there in one piece The board itself is quite simple, its the Arduino that makes the whole thing work, you'll have to let us know when you get the nano.

I think I'll be re-designing the C5 touch, not sure about it's suitability as a beta project as it will involve stripping out all the original wiring and putting in a lot of new stuff.

I'll create a new thread for it when I'm in a position to, there's a long way to go before then.

Thanks!

Yeah there shouldn't be any compiler errors. Just ensure you select Tools->Board->Arduino Nano w/ ATMega328 and the correct COM port and it will compile and upload fine.

What version of the Arduino compiler are you using? V1.0.1 is the one I'm using, I don't think it will work on versions < V1.0.0.

Hi Dave,

So that's the left side? That's now the temp gauge, should be 2 green bars when its cold and then change to a single green, then yellow, then red etc as the temperature goes up. Did you see that happen when you had the motor engaged?

two on the outside battery side works
Does the right side (battery level) work then, do you get a full display of LEDs if your battery is full?

Thanks!

Ah that's fine then, the 2 LEDs on both ends (yellow) are always on anyway on the C5, the module only has control of the inner 5 LEDs (2 green, 1 middle yellow, 2 red).

Not heard anything yet from mobo/chas.

As for what happens now, nothing, that's it (until you're able to take it for a spin in a c5). Use it when a ULA goes bang. I'll give you a BETA tester medal.

Thanks for the info you've posted so far. I'm going to go ahead and get some more made up and sell them on this site.

I managed to get out on the C5 with the POD ULA mod and did about 6 miles with it with the motor pretty much constantly on and it all seemed to work fine.

The only thing that let me down was the chain tensioner constantly falling off, I can't wait to get chas's tensioner on there

I managed to get the left display (which now measures motor temperature) into the middle (yellow) LED so it did get warm on-top of the fact it was quite a warm day here on the south coast

By the end of the trip the battery was getting flat and the right-LED display started dropping which all seems good.

Yep its great for interesting C5 shots, and the visiting tourists seem to like taking pictures of it when I'm out and about

These ula pod boards are ready now, I sent you a PM if you still need one.

For anyone else who wants one, the price is £10 for the board (not including the Arduino), though for £22 I'll buy an Arduino, upload the program to it and send it to you with the board, all ready to go.

Thanks!
