With POD ULA's breaking and the problems finding a replacement increasing, here is a simple modification you can use to increase the life of the ULA.

As explained by Perran Newman (the original electrical engineer on the C5 project) you can increase the protection of the ULA against transients by placing a 47K resistor across one of the connections to the ULA (after cutting the trace):
